About Branan Freeman, Artist and Art Educator

As a sculptor, painter, printmaker, and illustrator, I explore my creative passion in a variety of media and styles. Nature is my biggest inspiration, and the plants and creatures upon this earth are the most magnificent art forms! My own creative expression is fueled by my awe and love of the natural world around me.

After earning my Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts from the University of the South, I moved to Southern California to explore new terrain and broaden my artistic knowledge while developing a career in the San Diego art community. I worked as a Museum & Art Educator for The San Diego Museum of Art before moving to Big Sur, California, where I continue to teach and make art. I thrive living closer to the trees, mountains, and the ocean, deepening my connections to nature and my own artistic voice.

I have exhibited my sculptures, paintings, drawings, and prints (monoprints, lithographs, blockprints, and serigraphs) in various group and solo shows since 1990, both locally and nationally. My works are also held in private collections across the country and internationally.

In addition to making art, I also serve as an art educator for a wide variety of audiences, from children to adults. I have served in schools, museums, community centers and retreat centers, including the Children's Museum of Art San Diego, the San Diego Museum of Art, and Esalen Institute .
